WORAPOT SRABUA CEO / MANAGING DIRECTOR ORIENTAL EVENTS (ORIENTAL LEISURE CO., LTD) HEREIAMNOW! What did you want to be when you grew up: I wanted to make a difference in the world and to be the best I could in my career. Your first job/your most challenging role to date: I was drawn to the hospitality sector and my creative instincts led me to the F&B industry in Thailand and the challenge of understanding western culture and western food. Your first break: I was lucky enough to obtain the very best F&B training at both the Dusit Group and the world-famous Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. Working alongside and learning from some of the world's top chefs and event planners has been invaluable in my career. The best part of your job: Working with event planners from all over the world and delivering the perfect events to suit the brief -- exceeding the client's expectations! The worst: Sometimes the frustration of dealing with outmoded thoughts and practices -- in every country! Who has inspired you: I am inspired by all the great philosophers who teach us that success has to be earned in life through dedication and hard work. I have certainly learned that the harder I work, the luckier I get! Your best quality: The practical ability to turn dreams into reality and to be constantly alert to new ideas and technologies. Your worst quality: I sometimes get frustrated at slow responses of 'red tape' officials. Your biggest achievement to date: Creating a great team of people at Oriental Events that can cope with any and every situation with humour and innovation. Your biggest challenge to date: Thailand and SE Asia has suffered from too much ill-informed and negative publicity in recent years and we need to address these issues. 80 miceAsia.net people SEAN SEAH DIRECTOR OF ECOMMERCE LANGHAM HOTELS INT.
