miceAsia.net 77 THIRD JW MARRIOTT-BRANDED THAILAND PROPERTY OPENS Thailand's third JW Marriott-branded property opened on November 1, 2009, in Phang Nga province under a long-term management agreement between Marriott International and Cherfah Company Ltd. The 298-room JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa is located on a lushly-landscaped site along a 1km stretch of pristine Khuk Khak Beach. It is one of only two internationally-branded luxury resorts in the market. REGAL JINFENG OPENS IN SHANGHAI Regal Jinfeng Hotel, located at the prime commercial area of Jinqiao Export Processing Zone in Pudong Shanghai, opened at the end of October. It is the third Shanghai property under the management of Regal Hotels International. KIWI GM OVERSEES HARD ROCK CAFE PENANG LAUNCH The Hard Rock Cafe Penang, the second Hard Rock Cafe in Malaysia, officially kicked off its presence recently with a rocking celeb-filled night opened by the Chief Minister of Penang, Yang Amat Berhormat Tuan Lim Guan Eng. This new cafe is located in the Hard Rock Hotel Penang, a modern and chic beach resort that recently opened its doors at Batu Feringghi Beach. The VIP grand opening celebration included dignitaries, local celebrities and musicians watching a convoy of Harley Davidson motorcycles escorting the Chief Minister to the entrance of the hotel. "This was just the trailer to the exciting line up for the night.
